Please also first check your cable connections: ctrlX CORE out = XF50 and ctrlX DRIVE in = XF21. Have a look in the how to collection in the drive section how to generally connect your PC to a ctrlX DRIVE. To check the communication setting connect via the additional display or directly connect your PC to port XF20 and try to connect there.

Please check if your EtherCat master instance is already created on the ctrlX CORE. Also check if the ctrlX DRIVE communication is set to EtherCat.

I am normally working directly in the user folder "~" but subfolders should make no difference. Did you accidentally copy the data with "sudo cp -r"? Then the rights on the folder could be wrong, too. I would also suggest to probably use no spaces in your path (seen on the picture above).

We had some problems with class C networks in the past. What is your IP settings? And which firmware version is installed (e.g. 1.10)? A workaround would be to give your control a fitting IP like 192.168.1.1/24 as well as the PC e.g. 192.168.1.12/24.

How did you copy the SDK data to your Ubuntu VM? Please use a "cp -r" function to copy the SDK to your working folder. If you are using exchange folders that are managed by windows the user rights could not be fitting in Ubuntu.
