Introduction
More frequently, manufacturing equipment interfaces with CAN bus to battery systems. Be it for battery testing, charging, discharging or use as energy buffer, e.g. using ctrlX DRIVE. The Node-RED flow used in the video is attached at the bottom of the article.
The ctrlX AUTOMATION - Node-RED app can be used to
setup the communication,
read and write CAN bus messages,
create a Battery Node-RED dashboard,
and share data via the innovative ctrlX Data Layer with other apps running in the ctrlX CORE. In this example, the CAN bus from the BMS (Battery Management System) of the Lithionics Battery® is connected to the USB-C port at the ctrlX CORE X3 using a “CANBUS to USB” adapter.
