Can we use Endat02 Encoders (with just the digital part) with the external encoder option?

The firmware manual section 12.2.5 says "EnDat02 are not supported" but then it seems to say that it can be used but only the digital interface is evaluated.

• Functionally, an EnDat22 encoder on the CtrlX-DRIVE works in conjunction with the runtime ASX03V06.
• With Safety on Borad, however, only in Nov22 with the ASX03V10
• A second encoder can only be operated in combination with a BoschRexroth motor.

My customer is doing a retrofit of their machine. Main drive motors will be Rexroth, with external encoders Heidenhain.

Current external encoders are Endat02. I'm trying to find out if they need to get new external encoders.

This only works if the EnDat02 encoder, where we just use the digital signals, allows a clock frequency of at least 8 MHz. Most of the Heidenhain encoders don´t do that but are limited to 2 MHz only. See:
