ctrlX World Partner Apps for ctrlX AUTOMATION

I am running a CtrlX VirtualControl and I have installed the PLC application (v1.12.6). I am having trouble connecting to the plc application. In the communication tab inside PLC Engineering, it can see the app and reports the stats:
System Status: Operating
Type code: ctrlX COREVirtual
App: 1.12.6
Ports: HTTPS:443 (OK)
PLC: 11740 (not connected)
If I click on device user down at the bottom, sometimes it gives an authentication error (wrong username password), although I have verified this many times. The core settings page also shows the user as having logged in. There is a little red notification next to the Apply button on the communication tab that says:
"Invalid user authentication on the target. Please check, whether the dvice has the permission 'PLC Administration'' I have given the user this permission and also tried by giving the user all permission.
When I click login under the online tab at the top, I first get an error that:
"The ctrlX CORE is in "Service" mode. The application cannot be switched to RUN mode! Do you want to continue logging in?"
If I enter the credentials here, then I get the same "invalid user authentication on the target" error as above.
When I login to the core control website, it is using the self signed certificate, so the browser gives an error. Would that be causing an issue with the login here, or is there some other problem?
Solved! Go to Solution.

Could it be that your system like mentioned is in service state, would could be the case after installing the ctrlX OS - PLC app? Could you add some screenshots of your described problem and tell us which other apps are installed on the system? You could also add a system report, so we get most information of the system (see how to).
Did you change any settings about the used ports or something else using or blocking port 11740?
The self signed certificate is just standard web technology, as certificates are IP bound and we as Rexroth cannot make sure that all IPs that can be used are safe device and register them to the world wide servers. That's why we are using a self signed certificate. Check the "How to make an HTTPS connection with ctrlX OS Web Server" if you like to know more and get rid of it, but this has nothing to do with your topic.

It looks like I installed the wrong version of the PLC App. I did not have any ability to switch between operating and service, and I finally found another forum discussion that made it sound like using the wrong version can crash the automation app. I created a new device, installed the correct version, and it is working properly. Thanks.
