FoE tab not shown in ctrlX IO Engineering

I have downloaded the firmware update for XB-EC-12 to update to 1.4.0

My issue is I do not see how to update the firmware. According to the Release notes:

First change to the active state in ctrlX I/O Engineering by enabling “Show
online data”. This is the requirement to update the firmware. The corresponding
user interface tab is only displayed if the requirement is met.
2. To open the device editor, double-click on the module in the ctrlX I/O
Engineering device tree and select the “FoE”. tab.

I am online with my customer and they do not see an "FoE" tab display when they click Show Online Data.The bus coupler was added to the project tree when we scanned for devices, but no FoE Tab shows up when we click Show Online Data. I'm not sure what other step we might be missing.

They are using CtrlX Works 1.12.10.

Moved to own topic from this one.

The FoE feature is not available in the 1.12 version of the ctrlX IO Engineering. You should have to update to e.g. 1.20 or use an external tool.

Please keep in mind the EtherCat phase must be at least "pre-op" for using FoE or any other mailbox protocol.

So steps to go are:

1. Create EtherCat configuration in ctrlX IO Engineering with old device description file
2. Send it to the ctrlX COREs EtherCat master
3. Set fieldbus to phase pre-op
4. Connect with online data view in engineering
5. Do the firmware update (see official documentation, firmware can be found here)
6. Create EtherCat configuration in ctrlX IO Engineering with old device description file
7. Send it to the ctrlX COREs EtherCat master
8. Bus is running again
