Reading Encoder Data with CORE

Reading Encoder Data with CORE

Hello Colleagues,

One of my customer wants to read encoder data with CORE. This is not a motion application. Customer will read position of the conveyor.
Customer can read data of sensor "6FX2001-5QN13" over ProfiNEt with Siemens PLC. Now we are trying to convert the application to the CORE. Customer is open to a sensor recommendation. If we could read the 6FX2001-5QN13 , it would be more easy but if we can't read it, customer can buy a one which we can read.

Kind Regards,

Emrah Emre

X3plus can support profinet.

I think it can meet your needs.

Thank you for your reply. X3plus supports profinet device. I supposed that the controller must be the master, and these should be an encoder-technology module module inbetween. But i am not sure. Even Siemens do it like that:https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109486133/how-can-you-realize-the-encoder-configura...

As far as I know we don't have a tech. module to read profinet encoders. Any proposal or recommendation would be also sufficient for customer. The encoder does't has to be profinet. Which encoder can we read with CORE is the main question. Or does it coming with RM24.07 with encoder reading IO modules?

I'm sorry, I made a mistake.
Core is not currently available as a master site (PN) .
If the customer is willing to change the encoder, you can communicate with CORE using an encoder with the EtherCAT protocol.

Hello Emrah

see the ctrlX IO Roadmap of availalbe encoder interfaces....

Thank you very much for you approach. No problem, it is always confusing and we make similar mistakes. Actually, customer could use CoDeSys ProfiNet stack to be a ProfiNet master, but this way is not convenient because of low reasing cycle depending on processing load. Reading cycle would be between 5-10 ms in that case, an it is too long.

I recomended customer to use an EtherCat encoder. There are some on market and I assume that we can read them without problem.
