I am wondering if there is anything I am doing wrong, or if my unit is broken, because I can't seem to mount it in a DIN rail. See photos below, there is nothing that would clamp up to the rail, if I push up _really_ hard on the disengaging mechanism, I can see the clamps appear, but as soon as I release, then they go back. It is like the latches are locked in the open position and do not go back to the idle position. Is there any trick to make them go to idle again?

If you had opened the clamp in the past, you have to release the clamp mechanic again. This can be done by pushing at these places you see in the attached pictures. Than it should be possible to lock it again

@pocasta
If I see your photo indeed your core seems to be broken. The unlocking lever should stick out under the core but your is flat. Did it maybe bump on the table/floor?

When trying to implement Jochen's suggestion, the black disengagement tab completely broke off. I am not sure what the issue was, I put it on a DIN rail once, took it out once, and that was it. In any case, with no tab the point is moot. Thank you both for your suggestions and answers.
