1. Is it possible to access subordinate devices inside the machine network via the remote access of the device portal?
2. If not, I assume that it is possible via VPN. With OpenVPN there is a possibility to setup the configuration so that the subnet of the VPN client is reachable, see here: CLICK "Including multiple machines on the client side when using a routed VPN (dev tun)"
Ist this possible to setup on the ctrlX Core?

Hi jacare,
1. No, by purpose it is not possible to access the machines network via the Remote Access. You can only access the ctrlX CORE webinterface. This brings various security advantages with it since you do not have actual network access. Let us say it is a level one remote access with all the possibilities of the ctrlX CORE webinterface. And you can e.g. also create your own app to interact via the webinterface with other device in the network.
2. Yes, it is. This brings us to the next level. If you need full remote access e.g. for certain engineering tasks you can use a VPN connection. This connection can be configured in the VPN Client App e.g. with OpenVPN or other third party systems and it can then be initiated via the Remote Access of the Device Portal on the webinterface of the ctrlX CORE (user permissions can be set respectively to allow only certain users full access etc.- if needed).
So both can be used together in a staged process (first remote access via Device Portal and then initiate VPN on the webinterface if needed). This way you get the most in terms of security and accessibility depending on how much access you really need in the different use cases.
Cheers
J
