P1/P2 pulse frequency adjustable?

P1/P2 pulse frequency adjustable?

Hello,

We have a customer who is asking about whether they can change the pulse frequency of the P1/P2 test pulses. They measure them at 4msec rate and want to make that >10msec. Is there  any way to achieve this? They are using the SafeX-C.15.

The reason is they have some equipment that requires test pulses at a >10msec rate. They tried to adjust OSSD test pulse time and OSSD Period settings for the controller, but they don't appear to affect P1/P2.

Hello @stephenOtis ,

Please take care with naming: Our product is called SAFEX-C.15 and capitals are relevant for the correct naming on the market-place!

The test pulses P1 and P2 cannot be explicitly configured. I checked the ctrlX SAFETY Engineering and the documentation. Since the test pulses are running at a period of 4 ms most probably the main task cycle is the relevant figure. Please try changing the main task cycle from 4 ms to 12 ms, if this is an option for the application. Maybe this is a work around to get this specific application working.

Please take into account that all cycle time considerations in safety-relevant reaction-times have to be re-done!

Indeed OSSD test pulse times are only valid for test pulses on output signals (Q0.0 ... Q0.5, etc.). For passive equipment (as discussed here) the test pulses P1 Q0.6 and P2 Q0.7 are relevant when re-reading these pulses on the inputs I0.0 ... I0.32.

It is always a good idea to contact the ctrlX SAFETY specialists in the technical support team of DC-AE, e.g. @Dias !

FYI: @MSchEr , @Dias

Best regards

Your ctrlX SAFETY team

Hello,

I set up a test with two single channel devices to P1 and P2 with a SAFEX-C.15 monitoring both test pulses. Using a cycle time of 4ms and 12ms as mentioned above. Regardless of cycle time P1 would pulse about 1ms after P2 at an interval of 4ms between each pulse on both P1 and P2. Attach scope trace. Channel 1 is P1 and channel 2 is P2

I caught a random pulse on both P1 and P2 as mentioned by Stephen. It seems to trigger right after the P2 pulse was going back High.
