Can I connect a third-party motor with a Hengstler AD58 Safety - ACURO link to the ctrlX DRIVE (XG20)? Can I use SafeMotion with this encoder?

Correct, this is possible, both

- the functional interaction itself with the encoder interface at XG20
and
- the evaluation as safety encoder for Safe Motion (SMO) functions.
