So I am aware the USB serial to usb should work as referenced in this thread, however, in my setup I do not have have a /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyACM0 (as seen in the linked thread) normal I would ssh and see if there was anything in the /dev folder but thats not currently an option. My end device is a Sercans III pci card that I am trying to view parameters with. I can see the device on my computer and connect with the Serial node but not on the Core, any ideas on trying to trouble shoot this?

Which hardware are you using as serial to USB adapter?
An Aten UC232A which is our standard for working with the cards.
We will check this.
We checked the kernel configuration. The Aten UC232A is using the Profilic PL2303 chipset and the drivers for this are included in the kernel of the CORE. Can you please try again and tell us the version of your kernel as well as of your Node-RED App? (You can find this in under Settings->Apps->Show System Apps).
Serial adapter should be available under: /dev/ttyUSB0
