Wifi dongle as access point

Wifi dongle as access point

Hello.

There was a mention in older thread that it is possible to use wifi dongle as access point in future.

Is it possible already and if it is, how it is done? I could only get it to work as wifi client.

I use TL-WN823N adapter.

Hello,

Yes that is true, the USB Wifi Dongle needs a Wifi Router it can connect to. I will provide some screenshots later, but you got it already running, right?

Hi

I got it to work as client (picture1). But I was hoping to get it to work in the way that I could see it in my laptops wifi connections (picture2). I'm not sure if that is possible?

My goal is to take connection to CtrlX wirelessly with any laptop/panel, not only with the one that is cofigured in CtrlX Wi-Fi settings.

Opening a WLAN must be a feature of your stick. As far as I found the one you are using is only a client. So you cannot set up one with this hardware.

Ok, Thaks for reply.

Do we already have any known/tested hardware for that?

Hello Lauri,

we will release most likely the Wifi usage as Accesspoint/client by RM2207.
The handling for configuration is currently not supported by our web-ui. Manually setup with rest-api gets necessary to modify the default (client mode).

Please consider that 2 WiFi USB devices are supported right now but NOT both of them support AccessPoint-mode connected on the ctrlX.

The NETIS Wifi supports both Opmodes

The TP-Link provides only client mode in connection with the ctrlX.

Take care ording the exact type... other chipsets are not supported by the ctrlX-integrated drivers.

Hello,

Is there an updated list of Wifi dongle supported with the ctrlX? I am looking to purchase one, so i wont need to connect LAN cable to my engineering PC.

Warmest regards,

As far as I know no support for further adapters was added.
