Well I can ping google.com just fine. Thats a good idea though, I wish it were that simple.  Also this may or may not be related but just figued out the core is not getting the time from the ntp server (0.pool.ntp.org). I can keep the time updated but that seems to be another server the core can not access.  Edit the DNS portion gave me an idea though and forced the router and the core to use 8.8.8.8 and we were good to go so great call!     ...
