Assign a variable to an Axis for use in 3-D viewer

I am trying to assign a variable, in the PLC, to an axis in the 3-D viewer app. The value is intended to be the actual position of a ball on a beam.

As we discussed in a online meeting, there is a feature in the actual version 1.20.1 of the ctrlX CORE - 3D-Viewer app that allows to connect model objects to each data layer value. This was not present in the used version 1.12:
