Ethercat stuck in safe- OP (sync manager watchdog)

Ethercat stuck in safe- OP (sync manager watchdog)

Hello,

we have a communication problem about Ethercat.

When Ctrlx is booting, not all Ethercat slaves change in OP automatically:

CarlottaPalazzi_0-1718117994867.jpeg

Our machine configuration include a S20_EC_BK with 2 encoder modules (S20_INC_2).

We try to replicate the issue using a S20_EC_BK with 2 digital  I/O modules, but the error does not occoure.

In particular this happend only with S20_EC_BK with 2 encoder modules (S20_INC_2).

We noticed the difference between the 2  kind of modules is S20_INC_2 can be included only onboard or on a sercos or an ethercat bus coupler.

Have you got any experience about this situation or do you know why could this happened?

Thanks,

Carlotta.

Hello Carlotta,

when the EtherCAT communication drops, because of a reboot of the ctrlX CORE or a cable break, some EC devices will change the state to Safe-OP and need a command / trigger to switch back to OP. This can happen e.g. with any Analog EC device or a EC drive as well. Does it happen in your system when everything was PowerOff and is switched on or just the ctrlX CORE.
Which version of ctrlX CORE and EtherCAT App are you using?

Hello,

this happens in all cases: when everything was PowerOff and is switched on or just the ctrlX CORE powerOn.

version of CtrlX core: ctrlx X3 v 2.4

version of EtherCAT App :v  2.4

Hello,

unfortunately we have not yet found a solution.

If it can be useful to give us support, we have noticed the following:

the problem does not arise if the MOTION app is installed, but in the configuration we are using this app does not need.

Thank you,

Carlotta.

Hello @CarlottaPalazzi , in v2.4 and v2.6 was an issue, which is solved with EtherCAT Master ECM-V-0206.2.app, that after reboot all EhterCAT devices will switch to OP.

Can you please check that the S20-EC-BK has at least v1.24 as firmware or higher.

Are there any news? Could the issue been solved?
