Storage error while installing snap on virtual ctrlx core

Storage error while installing snap on virtual ctrlx core

Dear community,

I snapped an app for the virtual ctrlx core, which has a size of around 650 MB. While installing the app on the virtual core I get the following error:

I have nothing else installed (except the system apps) on the virtual core and have also checked if I have enough storage space available:

My question now is, if there is a limit on how large a snap is allowed to be in size? If so, is there any way to change it?
I can install the snap normally on native Ubuntu 20.04.

I would appreciate your help!

Regards

Farrukh

Please keep in mind that there is no native Ubuntu on the ctrlX CORE but an Ubuntu core20.

The internal storage cannot be resized. Please also have an eye on the more precise view in the tab "Information  --> Resources". Not all of your internal storage is usable for your data. While installation your snap size can again increase but least makes a copy of your snap package.

Hey,

Thank you for the reply!

After installation the snap size stays the same in my case. What would you suggest me to do? Is there any workaround? The resource tab shows that there should be enough space left (at least in the section you highlighted).

We are investigating this problem. It looks like there is a bug in the ctrlX COREvirtual, that limits the snap size to 250Mb.

Hey,

I was able to workaround the issue. It is the RAM that is hindering the installation (the storage error was caused by the tmpfs /tmp directory). By increasing virtualcores's RAM to 2G the snap can be installed but only via ssh and not the user interface.

I think the ability to increase RAM should be a feature or a settings option in ctrlX works.

Thanks again for looking into it!
