How to Update from 2.2 to 2.4?

I am currently on 2.2 and want to update to 2.4. Should this be done via Systemimage (SD / USB) or can I also update the System Apps seperately?

Please always refer to the official release notes in the online documentation for such information.

To sum it up update from < 2.02 to >= 2.02 needs an image update. Update from 2.02 to 2.04 can be done app wise.
