Is it possible to use ctrlX with OPC UA Pub Sub to talk to the MTX OPC UA server?
I have customer who is planning to use a ctrlX core as a gateway from MTX to an EtherCat device.
I read this post about ctrlX to ctrlX communications. Solved: Communication between ctrlX core's (boschrexroth.com)
However, there I can't tell if Pub Sub will work with MTX.

The MTX system only supports OPC UA server-client. OPC UA PubSub is not implemented inside the older controls like CMLx5 or XM.
In theory you can connect a MTX with a ctrlX CORE via PLC network variables or OPC UA server-client (both NRT).
Or you can use ProfiNet to communicate between a MTX and the ctrlX CORE to connect to the EtherCAT device.
But if you just want to connect a EtherCAT device to a MTX, why you don’t use a SERCOS/EtherCAT-Bridge?

As an addition if you just want to run an EtherCat device at a XM controller this is possible as a master is available there.
If only data should be transferred in publisher subscriber manner you could also use a standard UDP communication e.g. via the PLC.

Thanks for that, I learnt about the difference between client/server and pub/sub now. We may use the ctrlX for additional functions. We can't do this with a third party EtherCat bridge.
