OPC UA connection via NX CAM

I am trying to establish a connection to NX CAM model via OPC UA using CtrlX Virtual Core image version 1.20.12. I have eastablished connection via test client to OPC UA server running on virtual core. I have also made a connection between NX CAM and CODESYS via OPC UA using CODESYS as the server. However I am not able to connect NX OPC ua client to CtrlX OPC UA server. Certificates are approved from both server and client side, but the client (NX) keeps giving error "Cannot connect to server".

I am using windows 11

Does anyone have any experiences with Siemens NX CAM OPC UA client and ctrlx OPC UA server?

Is the security policy that the client is requesting enabled in the OPC UA server settings on the ctrlX core? And did you synchronize the time/date of the two devices?

Hi,

It seems that we have the same issue.

setup:

• Virtual core image 1.20.12
• NX MCD 2206
• All security settings enabled.
• certificates trusted on both sides.
• NX user reported that they managed to connect with Matrikon OPC UA explorer to the OPC UA server.
• Ctrlx user has administrative rights
• On the client side (NX), authentication mode is username & password.

Time settings:

It seems that with incorrect time settings rejected session count and security rejected count increase with every attempt to connect. After changing the time on ctrlX side to match windows’ time, this was fixed.

 

However, the client still refuses to connect but now rejected request count keeps increasing with every connection attempt. Nothing appears on the diagnostic logbook, even with trace messages enabled.

I do not have Siemens license on my own PC, so testing this is a bit difficult. I can ask the end user to check if there are any configurable time settings on the NX side and verify that the OPC UA connection established with Matrikon OPC UA explorer really works.

Any other suggestions what should be checked?
