I know that the ctrlX Drive with integrated CORE currently only supports EtherCAT for the drive interface.
Are there any plans for it to support Sercos for just the drive interface in the future?
ctrlX DRIVE (w/o ctrlX CORE) already supports sercos.
ctrlX DRIVE (with integrated ctrlX CORE) will have the capability to be used within a fieldbus network (e.g. ProfiNet, EtherNet IP or as well sercos) over the interface connectors XF23 P1 and XF24 P2 as kind of intelligent subdevice.
When you say "will have the capability to be used within a fieldbus network", do you know if in which firmware version that this capability will be available?
Also, is there anyway to transfer data between the integrated CORE and the slave drive with the Sercos interface?
If so, how will it be done?
Please address to your sales responsible to get the scheduling of the ctrlX CORE integrated in ctrlX DRIVE as a subdevice in a fieldbus network like sercos.
Maybe small misunderstanding: The slave ctrlX DRIVE underneath ctrlX CORE will always be addressed over EtherCAT. Other drives in the sercos network can of course exchange data to ctrlX CORE and therefor to the ctrlX DRIVE underneath. One may use
- OPC UA directly or
- PLC talking over EtherCAT or
- Motion App talking over EtherCAT
from the ctrlX CORE to the ctrlX DRIVE underneath.
