Requirements for communicating with Siemens over Profinet

What requirements, e.g. apps are needed to communication with a Siemens PLC over Profinet?

At the moment we are still working on adding a PROFINET controller and device to our ctrlX COREplus. So we do not have a hardware or app for using it.

At the moment you can use a PLC based soft stack of CODESYS. See the storage area for further information.

Thanks, maybe a dumb question.

But do I understand it correctly, that using CodeSys on ctrlX it is possible to connect a Siemens PLC with a ctrlX Core device? 

From a hardware point of view, the cable will still be connecting the Siemens PLC though our multiEthercat on the ctrlX Core ?

The PLC soft stack would run in the ctrlX PLC app and would use one of the standard Ethernet ports (XF51, XF10) for the communication not the EtherCat port (XF50). Which one will be declared by the IP set in the code in the PLC.

What is this licence that the soft stack profinet master is requiring? I can't find any place to enter any licence and in the package manager it says no licence required.

You are right. We have now this license / Add-On in your ctrlX STORE too. (Sorry for confusing...)

To get the Add-On package you can download it by pressing the "Get in now" Button

To get the license you have to order by BoschRexroth by using this number.

Additional there is a manual how to install the package/license at the end of the  Store page .
