NodeRED RED-V-0204.0+3.1.0-ctrlx does not start when using a proxy

Hello everyone, I encountered the following issue:

Used software :

• ctrlX CORE Virtual image version 2.40
• NodeRED RED-V-0204.0+3.1.0-ctrlx 

After enabling the proxy tool (Px.exe) and configuring the proxy settings (ctrlX Core Virtual -> Settings -> Proxy) NodeRED web app displays the message:  The app is currently not available. I waited for 10+ minutes, refreshed the page but I got the same message.

However, when I disable the proxy settings (ctrlX Core Virtual -> Settings -> Proxy). NodeRed starts flawlessly. However, since I am connected to a corporate WiFi network, I do not have any internet access in the ctrlX Core.

Note: I managed to resolve the issue by downgrading to a lower version of the:

• CtrlX Core Virtual image version 1.20.9
• NodeRED RED-V-120.0+3.0.2-ctrlx

See, we were able to reproduce, we will open an internal ticket to fix this 🙂

PS i tried with the image 2.04 and node-red 2.2.0+3.0.2-ctrlx and is also working! so i think we have to check what is new in node-red from this point of view 🙂

did u check also with 2.4 image and node-red version 2.2.0+3.0.2-ctrlx. FOr me is working, can you check on your setup please? 😁

sorry for the late reply. I just tested your mentioned configuration 2.4 image and node-red version 2.2.0+3.0.2-ctrlx and I can confirm that NodeRED starts sucessfuly. 🙂

We are working on a more clean way to start node-red with the proxy for the next releases 😁
meanwhile i don't think that makes really a huge difference to use this or the other version!

Where did you download that NodeRED version of the app "node-red version 2.2.0+3.0.2-ctrlx"? I only found the "Node-RED 2.4.0+3.1.0-ctrlx" with the image "2.4.0" from collaboration rooms. The CtrlX can connect to the Internet as the proxy is already running, but cannot start NodeRED app...

Same issue happening to ctrlX virtual base image version 1.20.13 with node-red. And my ctrlX works not able to get the older version image. How to resolve this?

No but technically should be fixed in the nex version, i have to check with developers. I think you are doing a connection for PX proxy right? 

This setting is solving the issue 😁. Meanwhile we check with the devs when the fix is coming

I'm finding a limited number of images and app versions on both the US and DE collaboration rooms. Usually only 1 patch per major release.

next release will be 1.20.9 for node-red and will solve that. by that time i suggest you to use the "workaround" or either move to 2.6.x Globally the fix for this problem is integrated in version: 1.20.9, 2.6.5, 3.2.0.

Regarding this, we are not allowed to ship the older versions, for security reasons. Checked now.
if there is for example a vulnerability, we have to patch it and we are not allowed to ship the vulnerable version anymore. 

This is the law.

That is the bug happening with the workaroung. When you do that settings that is no more working. with 1.20.9 will be fixed

Where did you download the NodeRED version "NodeRED RED-V-120.0+3.0.2-ctrlx"? 

Did that fix the issue? I currently have a Virtual Core 1.20.12 (image version), that is imitating the issue of a physical core, that cannot be upgraded.

On the store only found version 3.1.

@CodeShepherd and @MauroRiboniMX I already tried with the newest versions and I can connect to the internet, but cannot download any plugins from the pallet manager in NodeRed. 

Here is my CtrlX Virtual version (2.6.8 image version) & my NodeRed Version (NodeRED 2.6.5+3.1.11-ctrlx).
